Pen Review: Pelikan M400 White Tortoiseshell

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I wanted to review a pen that suits the holiday mood! Today I will be reviewing another Pelikan (or "bird" , as fountain pen users like to say). This is a limited M400 edition which was produced in the early 2000s and discontinued in 2011. The warm yellow-green hues fit in perfectly for autumn.

Design (5/5) : The pen weighs 15.3 g (0.54 oz) and is 4.92 in (125 mm) in length. It takes a 3/4 turn to remove the cap from the barrel. I have small hands and grip the pen section tightly. I found that this pen was balanced and light which made it suitable for longer writing sessions.

Color (5/5): I absolutely adore this color. The tortoiseshell gleams in the light and has such an interesting color array! The striated yellow-greens mixed with a darker olive perfectly compliment the gold trim.

What a gorgeous, unique color!

Nib (5/5): This Pelikan sports a two-toned 14k gold nib. As with most Pelikans, this was a wet writer. I did not experience any issues writing with the nib out of the box.

Ink Capacity (5/5): Like its other variants, the M400 is a piston filler. The ink capacity can be seen through the barrel (but not the color). This makes it easy to judge the ink level and refill accordingly. As I change inks frequently, I have yet to run out of ink on one fill.

Overall (4.5/5): This pen is a lovely little writer and is a beauty to look at with its unique honey-green striations.
