Ink Review #212: Montblanc Midnight Blue
Today we’ll be reviewing Montblanc Midnight Blue that I purchased from r/pen_swap in a moment of weakness. This might become one of my new favorite blue-black inks!
Swabs:
This ink had high shading and medium red sheen. This is a dark grey, professional-looking navy. It has more undertones than Sailor Sou-Boku, which I use at work, and Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-Kai. I would not feel out of place using this color at work.
Dry Time/Water Resistance:
This ink had a long dry time of 50+ plus, though I suspect the reason is due to the Limonaired card and not the ink itself. This ink also demonstrated high water resistance.
Writing Sample:
This ink had a smooth, slightly dry flow. I was surprised at its smoothness. The shading is visible even in my Pilot <WA> nib, which lays down a 0.5 mm line. Overall, I was quite happy with the writing experience.
Overall: I was very pleased with this purchase. The color is professional yet unique. I would recommend purchasing a sample if you are interested in blue-black or dark blue inks.
